Happy Father’s Day, Dad! While this was the first, of many, Father’s Days where I won’t be lucky enough to see you and laugh with you, please know you’ll never be forgotten! As I’m looking out of our living room window right now, I’m seeing and hearing the beautiful wind chimes that Katie and the kiddos gave me for Father’s Day, in honor of you!
Your calming presence, level head and ability to see humor in all situations are just some of the cherished qualities I’ve learned from you! As this is my first post, the name GenuinelyJason is an apt description of who I am and how much I admired that quality in you!
As you and I were wrapping up our father/son drive yesterday, the song “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd coincidentally started playing on the truck radio. The song gave me pause, followed by wonderful memories of you, a “Simple Man” not in cognition or ability, but of someone who knew what he liked and what he didn’t! You were a man who loved his family, Chevys and all sorts of t-shirts!
Your simplicity and the ease in which you operated within your own space, and beyond, was truly a sight to behold. No matter the situation, location or those present, when I looked for and needed you, I would always find the person who I could count on for guidance, unconditional love and the smile that told me things would be okay. Each and every day I wake up and remember that while you are gone from my sight, your presence is constantly near and as comforting as before.
I love you more than words can ever express and you are missed, always!!
Love/ Jason
For a terrific dad, from a terrific son. Bravo. I love this.
